Browser piano and guitar tuner: latency and microphone checks
Check note names, reference pitch, microphone permission and browser delay before using a music tool for practice.

A virtual piano plays generated notes, while a microphone tuner estimates the pitch of incoming sound. They need different permissions and interfaces. A piano may work after a button press with no microphone access. A tuner requires microphone permission in a supported secure context. Daily Desk does not currently provide either instrument, so this page is a setup and verification guide.
Start with a reference pitch
A4 = 440 Hz is a common reference, but an ensemble may use another standard. A guitar tuner should show which string and octave it expects rather than just a letter name. Standard six-string tuning from low to high is E2, A2, D3, G3, B3, E4. Alternate tunings intentionally differ. Do not keep tightening a string merely to reach the same note name in the wrong octave.
Reduce measurement confusion
Tune in a quiet place and pluck one string at a time. Mute neighbouring strings and allow the initial attack to settle. Verify the selected microphone and stop other applications that may hold it. Permission can be revoked in browser settings, and a denied permission may require a new user action. A noisy room or strong overtones can make pitch detection jump between notes.
Account for audio delay
Browser scheduling, device buffers and Bluetooth audio can add latency to a virtual keyboard. A wired output and a short test can make the delay easier to judge. A browser instrument is useful for finding a note or trying a melody, but may not suit timing-sensitive ensemble practice. Stop microphone access when finished and use a dedicated tuner if the browser result remains unstable or the instrument needs a precise setup.
